In this exciting gay-themed book series from bestselling author, Cade Jay Hathaway it is the early 1800s in Great Britain at the height of the Napoleonic wars. Two young fellows—a ship's boy named Mouse and another young boy from a wealthy English family—meet in the worst of circumstances.
When the ship they are sailing in is summarily destroyed by an infamous French sea captain, the boys are the only two able to survive the sinking of HMS Urial. Mouse devises a raft consisting of two huge galley barrels and the two drift until their eventual rescue by RMS Cleo, a packet ship sent out to search for survivors.

This series has already met critical acclaim as well as sizeable book sales from readers enchanted by Rian and Mouse's love for and loyalty to one another, something quite rare, since the penalty for homosexual behavior in that day was the hangman's noose.
Visit the breathtaking scope of the world they inhabit, their exciting adventures aboard the Cleo, and the wonderfully well-drawn characters who share in Rian and Mouse's interesting (and fun!) lives.
Historically accurate and with a gentle depiction of young gay life in 19th century Britain, the Rian and Mouse novels are sure to please.

The first novel, The Ship's Boy introduces readers to 13-year-old Adrian ‘ Rian’ Pembroke. While sailing aboard the Royal Navy frigate, HMS Urial a notorious Frenchman is determined to sink the ship at any cost.
Rian and his newfound friend and shipmate, Mouse barely escape with their lives and experience the fear they must face when they discover a shared secret that, were it ever come to light, would lead them both to the hangman's noose.
It is 1807 when the second novel begins. Europe is in total war and only England and her allies stand in the way as Napoleon Bonaparte attempts to rule the world.

Rian and the love of his life, Mouse have found lodging with a caring, elderly couple who have practically adopted the lads. But both have set their sights on a life at sea, determined to follow their ship to Canada. But the world has other plans when the Cleo is diverted to America on a diplomatic mission.
Book three finds Rian and Mouse turning the tide when mutiny lands aboard the Cleo. And as the Napoleonic wars rage on, it will take their shipmates and the lads' loyal friends, the Turners to make things right.

Now may be the right time for revenge, but they learn the hard way when recent additions to Cleo's crew are not as they appear to be.

With surprises galore, and a little bit of magic as well, Rian and Mouse just may triumph after all.
The fourth in the series, one year after the failed taking of the Cleo by Napoleon's piratical secret agents, Rian and Mouse enjoy life together as owners of The Two Barrels public house.

But when Capt. Bumper, Tom, and Rian are captured by the French, Mouse is unexpectedly thrust into the command chair.

Meanwhile, the matter of the Shanghaied Jack Turner has taken a very unexpect-ed turn as well. Is Mouse truly ready for command?

As we begin The Whole Wide World, the fifth novel in the Rian and Mouse series, Captain Alois Bumper has officially become the commodore of his own line, after he buys a second ship as a running mate to Cleo.
Mouse has been promoted to First Mate aboard the new packet, business is good at The Two Barrels, and Sofus and his new ‘Da’ have settled in together quite famously.
And all political and piratical turbulence aside, will this be the first time in their loving relationship that Rian and Mouse encounter rocky shoals of their own with Mouse’s promotion to First Mate?
Must love in all its beauty and glory be paused for the good of a seaborne commission for Mouse, the new officer?
A young fellow called Adrian Pembroke is sent away to an English boarding school as the sixth novel in the Rian & Mouse series begins, revealing the origin story of how a unique and beautiful tale of two young sailor lads in 19th-century Britain came to be...
Years later, Rian and Mouse have committed their lives to one another in every way at a time when being who they are, especially in the seafaring world, is a hanging offense. And now, on what would have been a typical Atlantic crossing aboard the two ships of the Blue Water Line, all has gone ahoo when war suddenly breaks out in the summer of 1812.

This time, Napoleon is not the foe; England and the United States are enemies once more, and our friends are tasked with foiling an evil slave ship named, of all things, the Liberty.
In Of Bygone Days, the seventh and final novel in the Rian & Mouse seafaring series, it is 1859 when Chumley Preston's periodical, the Weekly Standard publishes a news article about the incredible adventures experienced by Adrian Pembroke and Richard Jay, duly reported by journalist, Julius Lightbody.
But the fledgling writer learns more than he ever expected as the tale unfolds and he is faced with a decision that will break all Victorian social conventions. Will the honest truth destroy all that Rian and Mouse have built and believe in? Or will their example lead to the first steps towards change in a world that has always despised and condemned those who would dare to live a life free of societal expectations?
Join our friends on what is their most important voyage ever as we bid them joy Of Bygone Days.
